About this drive

Ruta Nacional 40 is one of the world's longest and most legendary roads, spanning nearly 5,000 kilometres along the spine of the Andes from Bolivia to the tip of Patagonia. The Patagonian section is the most iconic: a vast, remote journey through wind-swept steppe, past glacial lakes of extraordinary turquoise, active volcanoes, and the jagged peaks of the Andes. This is a road for adventurers and explorers, with long stretches of gravel and few services, rewarding those who tackle it with an unparalleled sense of isolation and grandeur.
