About this drive

The Route des Grandes Alpes is one of the great classic drives of Europe, tracing a magnificent 700-kilometre north-to-south spine through the French Alps from Lake Geneva to Nice on the Riviera. Crossing 16 alpine passes including the Col du Galibier and the Col de l'Iseran (the highest paved pass in the Alps at 2,770m), the route is legendary among motorcycle and sports car enthusiasts. The scenery ranges from glaciated high alpine landscapes to lavender fields and Mediterranean warmth, making it a complete European adventure.
